PayPal Web Engineering Lead specializing in NodeJS Are you a resourceful, motivated, self-starting and passionate NodeJS leader? If so, we’d like to talk to you about joining our team. PayPal’s Web Engineering Team supports all NodeJS development at PayPal;

  • Building/documenting/supporting secure, performant NodeJS frameworks and components
  • Applying proven development principles (MVC, Unix, KISS, DRY, YAGNI and Twelve Factor)
  • Working closely with PayPal’s large NodeJS developer community
  • Evangelizing and presenting internally and at outside industry events like SeleniumConf, DockerCon, NodeDay, NodeSummit, JSConf and more Join us at PayPal in our mission to evolve:
  • Our NodeJS framework offerings based on evolving NodeJS features and customer demand
  • Our NodeJS developer experience across our entire software development lifecycle (develop, test, build, deploy, monitor)
  • Our documentation, training and outreach (both within PayPal and beyond)Responsibilities

    • Championing positive engineering change
    • Mentoring fellow engineers
    • Owning PayPal’s NodeJS platform architecture
    • Building proofs-of-concept (POC) with fellow engineers and stakeholders
    • Transforming successful POCs into well-executed team initiatives
    • Delivering scalable solutions that improve core performance and developer experience

    You

    • Have a high personal bar for software excellence
    • Have production experience with NodeJS at scale
    • Use open-source methodologies and tools
    • Have a strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others
    • Have experience with test automation: TDD, unit/integration/functional testing
    • Will collaborate across functional areas
    • Will base technical decisions on facts, data, and existing context

    Nice To Have

    • Bachelor’s degree in CS or applicable code academy degree
    • Open source footprint, with your own module or as a contributor to other modules
