Compliance team:

We are looking for a motivated, ambitious and detail-oriented SME Compliance Lawyer to join our Legal & Compliance team. If you’re passionate about compliance, risk assessment, and regulatory standards and want to contribute to a strong AML/CFT compliance framework within the fastest growing digital bank in Mexico, this role is for you.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured, detail-oriented work and wants to develop a strong foundation in legal and compliance operations within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Challenges that await you:

  • Own the day-to-day management of incoming legal and compliance requests, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-documented responses. This will be the core responsibility of the role.
  • Supervise the decision making process of analysts regarding the onboarding of clients and alerts in the transactional monitoring mechanisms within the bank.
  • Review, organize, prioritize, and follow up on requests received from internal stakeholders, maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
  • Support the tracking and coordination of regulatory matters, ensuring documentation is complete and deadlines are met.
  • Develop and modify internal policies and procedures to cover the financial products and services offered by Banco Plata.
  • Conduct legal research and preliminary investigations to support the Legal & Compliance team.
  • Help identify applicable regulations and understand what actions are permitted under current legal frameworks.
  • Collaborate with different business areas to gather information required for legal and regulatory processes.

What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience on financial law & inclusion, AML/CFT, administrative law, or highly regulated markets.
  • Identify and assess compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, reputational, and operational risks related to financial products and services offered to PYMEs.
  • Advanced English and Spanish (mandatory).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with Mexico’s KYC/KYB regulation.
  • Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to banking and financial regulation.
  • Proficiency with transaction monitoring software.
  • Official AML/CFT certification issued by CNBV.
  • Experience as liaison between corporations and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulation to Designated Non-Financial Professions and Businesses (Actividades Vulnerables).

Our ways of working

  • Innovative Spirit: A commitment to creativity and groundbreaking solutions.
  • Honest Feedback: valuing open, transparent communication.
  • Supportive Team: a strong, collaborative community.
  • Celebrating Achievements: recognizing our wins together.
  • High-Tech Environment: a team full of smart and revolutionary people who date to challenge the status quo of incumbent finances.
