About the Role

The People Operations Manager reports to the Senior Director of People. This is a remote position. Regular attendance at a company office is not required, although there might be travel as needed for the business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is both a doer and a trusted people partner to leaders and employees. You’ll help oversee day-to-day People Operations functions—including HR operations, employee relations, recruiting, performance management, compliance, compensation administration, and benefits—helping create an exceptional employee experience across a growing, multi-state organization.

This role is designed for someone who is ready to operate with significant autonomy today and grow into broader strategic People partnership over time. The ideal candidate brings strong HR operations fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust with employees and leaders, while having the curiosity and capability to take on increasingly strategic work as the organization grows. The ideal candidate has strong people operations, is comfortable being people ops work, but steps up and takes on HRBP type responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

HR Operations

• Manage all core HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, HRIS administration, and PEO partnership.
• Ensure HR processes are efficient, scalable, compliant, and employee-focused.
• Maintain accurate employee data, reporting, and HR documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems and streamline workflows.

People Partnership & Employee Relations

• Partner with managers and leaders on performance, employee relations, team dynamics, and organizational changes.
• Coach managers through challenging conversations and help leaders translate business needs into effective people practices.
• Independently manage routine and moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating higher-risk or legally complex issues appropriately.
• Support organizational changes, team restructures, role changes, and other workforce planning initiatives.

Performance Management

• Administer the company’s performance management program, including goal setting, performance reviews, calibration, and employee development.
• Partner with managers to improve coaching, feedback, and accountability.
• Track completion and ensure a consistent employee experience across the organization.

Recruiting & Onboarding

• Manage recruiting operations from requisition through onboarding.
• Partner with hiring managers to deliver an exceptional candidate experience.
• Oversee interview scheduling, offers, background checks, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
• Manage employee referral programs and recruiting processes.

Benefits Administration

• Partner with brokers, benefit vendors, and our PEO to ensure smooth administration of employee benefits.
• Support employees by answering benefit questions and resolving benefit-related issues.
• Assist with annual open enrollment and ongoing benefit communications.

Compliance

• Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while partnering with General Counsel on complex matters.
• Update HR policies and procedures as regulations evolve.
• Support audits and ensure HR documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.

Compensation & HR Programs

• Administer annual compensation review and bonus processes.
• Prepare HR reports, compensation analyses, and workforce metrics to support leadership decision-making.
• Support ongoing People programs and initiatives that enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.

What We Are Looking For

• 6+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience, with demonstrated ability to independently own broad HR responsibilities.
• Experience supporting organizations (or divisions) with 50+ employees in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Healthcare experience strongly preferred, particularly supporting a provider organization OR Physician Corporation (PC) and Management Services Organization (MSO) organization.
• Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws.
• Experience administering HRIS platforms (such as Gusto) and partnering with a PEO (such as Prestige).
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Passion for building a positive, high-performing company culture.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to manage highly confidential information.
• Outstanding communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to think strategically while also executing day-to-day operational work.
• Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• Experience supporting fully distributed, multi-state teams.
• Experience working in high-growth startups or digital healthcare organizations.

Compensation Range

$120,000 – $130,000. Note that final compensation is subject to the candidate’s specific qualifications and location, as well as the needs of the company. This position is eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program.

The Company currently provides medical, vision, and dental insurance and 100% of the employee medical, vision, and dental premiums covered by the Company. There is an option to participate in both a medical FSA and dependent care FSA. We offer a 401(k) plan, with fully matching contributions up to 3% of salary and 50% matching from 3% to 5% of salary. There is a company paid life-insurance policy, and the option to participate in a voluntary pet-insurance policy. You will be eligible for Paid Time Off in accordance with the company’s policies.
