Summary

Are you a strong product leader who can work at the intersection of business and engineering, and bring deep domain knowledge to solve some of the most challenging problems in the data space? Does working with some of the best minds in large scale data streaming, storage, distributed data processing and analytic systems sound exciting?

As a product manager, you will drive value end to end customer experiences in our hybrid data platform across Expedia Group (EG). You will be responsible for driving all phases of product initiatives and building solid collaborative relationships across the organization. You should be able to clearly communicate issues, ideas and concepts both verbally and in written form between business and technical parties. You will work on our hybrid Data Platform consisting of Teradata, Hadoop, streaming services like Kafka, Informatica, BI tools, and operational support. You will handle enterprise level infrastructure and support teams across EG through migrations, upgrades and our evolving hybrid data ecosystem. You will own a cohesive product vision, strategy, and roadmap. You will execute and deliver your product vision – make solving complex data challenges look easy and delivering measurable value to the business.

What You’ll Do

  • You will work across product, engineering and customer teams in an agile environment to deliver products to market.
  • You’ll evangelize and articulate the value of the product, inspiring the team with a solid sense of purpose and inspiring customers with our completeness of vision.
  • You’ll capture, measure and ensure solid value realization by working directly with customers using our products to solve real business problems.
  • You’ll collaborate with the development teams as the voice of the customer, working closely with business and technology teams to prioritize and schedule enhancements and fixes to existing functionality.
  • You’ll liaise between all business owners to ensure clear communication and understanding of product offerings and upcoming changes.
  • You’ll create user stories to solve customer problems.
  • You’ll handle trade-offs between cost, schedule, and business benefit, and ensure successful delivery of set features to production that meet both internal and external customer needs.
  • You’ll orchestrate high quality roadmaps for your product, drive alignment of priorities, manage dependencies and focus delivery across the platform.
  • You’ll drive the overall product development process, including ceremonies, artifacts documentation and product messaging.
  • You’ll exhibit a sense of ownership for the success of your product.

Who You Are

  • Experienced: You have 3-5 years product management experience in a global platform and/or distributed systems environment.
  • Bringing Clarity: You have shown success, identifying and understanding customer needs in new or ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Excellent Communicator: Great verbal/written communication and storytelling skills to articulate technical products to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Expectation Setting: Ability to manage expectations of business partners while maintaining productive relationships.
  • Customer Centric: You carry a strong empathy for the user, built up by previous experience interacting directly with customers.
  • Motivated: You are a self-starter with demonstrated strengths managing products in complex, multi-project delivery environments.
  • Technical: You have familiarity with common data warehousing, Big Data services and visual analytics tools.
  • Cloud experience: Experience delivering products in hybrid cloud platform and managed services environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) a plus.
  • Analytical: You are well versed in using data to make decisions, set success metrics, and share results.
  • Education: BS, BA or equivalent work experience.
