The Oracle Data Cloud (ODC) is looking for a Business Development Director/Manager to lead and manage a specific vertical strategy team across Agencies, Social Platforms, Tech platforms and publishers. This individual will lead the strategy and develop a team for one or more of our vertical partner categories. This role will be a centralized point of strategic consultancy and project management driving contractual negotiations and key initiatives in collaboration with sales, legal, product and the entire commercialization team. Having a strong technical understanding of the ad tech ecosystem as well as specific domain expertise within the specific vertical is essential. Strong command of how to structure complex deals and lead negotiations throughout the entire partnership life cycle is equally essential for success in this role.

We’re open to having this person work from Oracle’s HQ in Redwood Shores, Seattle, Denver area, or San Francisco. Remote work from within the US is also a possibility.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Deal Strategy: Lead the deal through ideation, term sheets, negotiations and close. Collaborate heavily with legal to ensure compliance and speedy conclusions. Be a contractual ninja within your specific domain.
  • Product Strategy: Ensure there is a well-established plan for our product suite to achieve its objectives within the specific vertical. Work closely with product and engineering to develop new partnerships and terms that give ODC the greatest flexibility to establish the right product market fit.
  • Market Analysis: Maintain a solid understanding of market trends & partner needs; identify gaps in our ability to meet demand or differentiate; quantifying implications in terms of revenue & differentiated positioning.
  • Internal Connector: Be an internal evangelist for your vertical to bring the right resources and influencers together around a shared vision for how ODC should develop our holistic strategy across ODC and the greater Oracle business units.

Desired Skills:

  • 7+ years of business development and strategy experience, ideally in the ad tech ecosystem. Job level and assigned responsibilities will be commensurate with experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the online ad tech ecosystem across Data, Context, Measurement, DMPs, DSPs, Social Platforms, Publishers and Agencies. Where there are deficiencies you will need to be a fast learner and come up to speed quickly.
  • Comfortable with executive team presentations and C-level partnerships negotiations. You will be interacting with all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to manage within a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, with many stakeholders and shifting priorities. We move and innovate fast, be ready to adapt along the way.
  • Must be able to lead multiple time-sensitive initiatives in parallel across a diversified set of stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management experience, presentations skills and written communication prowess.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets to identify trends and other key insights.
  • Must be capable of traveling up to 25% of the time to attend events, meet with partners and collaborate with global teams.
  • Be Positive, professional and fun to work with at the same time.
  • MBA or JD is preferred but not a requirement
